This was St. Anthony’s and Wetherby’s second gala together. It proved to be a close contest as can be seen from the results table above. All the races were closely contended and boys from both schools showed great determination and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Our Year 4 team struggled in what was only their second experience of competitive swimming and were weakened by the absence of some key members due to illness.  St. Anthony’s other teams were able to provide a sterner test for Wetherby, with several boys winning their individual races. These included: in Year 5 – Oscar (backstroke), Ramon (butterfly), Charlie (freestyle); Year 7 – Luke (backstroke), Juan (butterfly & freestyle); Year 8 – Luca (backstroke), Oscar (breaststroke). The Year 6 team in particular won all of their races apart from the medley relay; these included: Alessandro (backstroke & butterfly), Mathew (breaststroke and freestyle), Alessandro - Douwejan - James - Adam (freestyle relay).

It was a very positive gala for St. Anthonys, as we won most of the individual races in Years 5 to 8, but Wetherby displayed far more strength in depth, which saw them win in all the relays bar one. Particular credit should be given to our Year 6 team, whose performance was outstanding.
