Wolfson Economics Prize success

This year’s Wolfson prize for economics invited entrants to submit a proposal for the design of a new garden city as part of a solution to the current U.K. housing crisis.   Such a challenging, multi-disciplinary and socially engaged project seemed perfect for my highly able Year 6 students.

After a process of brainstorming and research, students worked with the software package Google Sketchup to create virtual models of their garden cities, key images from which went in to power point presentations which they then delivered to their peers.

I was delighted with the imaginative schemes that my students developed and extremely pleased that their efforts have been acknowledged by the judging panel. It was wonderful to receive a prize of £500 and a trip for the whole year to the Kings Cross re-development.

Congratulations Year 6, you thoroughly deserve it!
