Sounds of Simon Concert

Another extremely successful and entertaining evening was had by all on Saturday night, with the return visit of the band ‘Sounds of Simon’.  Karl our Director of Music, was playing piano and keyboards with his band on the night; helped along by his young son Daniel singing and dancing in the audience!

This was also the first live public outing of the new ‘Art Garfunkel’ after a recent departure from the band (on good terms, unlike the real Paul and Art).  Adam sang beautifully in this new role, especially on the solo track sung solo with Karl on piano ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.  The band continued through most of the well-known Simon and Garfunkel numbers as well as a solo Paul Simon career set.

Karl was thrilled to see so many St. Anthony’s boys in the audience, from both Junior and Senior houses.  The boys really enjoyed the event and a few have even mentioned since that they have been downloading the music from iTunes.

This year was also marked by a special guest performance (AKA Paul ‘Keyte’ Simon) who came on and sang ‘Feelin’ Groovy’ and ‘Kathy’s Song’ for charity.  Karl looked both bemused with the New York accent and impressed with the intonation!

And finally, another huge thank you to all members of the audience for raising even more money for the ever deserving Catholic Children’s Society.
