Ist XI success

Wednesday 18th June  1st XI beat Devonshire House in thriller cricket match

Devonshire House set us the rather large total of 100 runs to chase! Alex and Peter went in to bat first. They played solidly and saw off their best bowlers whilst still scoring well. Soon they had reached a fifty partnership and made nearly half of the runs we needed. By the time Peter got out they had made sixty-five with plenty of overs to spare. Now it was down to the rest of the team to bring us through. Alex made an exceptional forty-nine and was unlucky not to make fifty. We had made it now to ninety with about two and a half overs to go. Wickets began to fall fast and even though we were so close, one hundred still seemed a long way off. With a quick single at the end, we were able to win the game with only nine balls left. It was an example of what we had been taught to do and showed how well we can play. It was a real team effort.
