St Anthony's Girls School Hampstead

Our Ethos

St. Anthony's aims to provide high quality education in a caring, supportive and Catholic environment, infused by Christ's Gospel, in order that each of our pupils is able to develop fully as an individual, well-adjusted to the wider community.

Year 8 have been busy devising, constructing and programing Robots to compete at Highgate school against teams from other schools in January. The winners of this competition will go on to the national finals and possibly the world final after that.

I would like to say a big thank you to Jon Taylor and Andy Thompson at Highgate School for orchestrating  this project and to the Mayor of London who, amongst others, has funded it.

Robotics team through to national finals! (4 images)

No less than two St.Anthony's teams picked up trophies at the recent VEX IQ regional finals hosted by Highgate School this winter with one team progressing to the national final in Birmingham later this year. This is a tremendous achievement considering there were a total of 40 teams competing from 24 schools at the event! Trophies were awarded to St.Anthony's teams for the design and programming skills they exhibited during the competition. The judges were particularly impressed with our teamwork skills and the autonomous robot score of 9 which, as the second highest of the competition, qualified us for a place in the finals. All the boys have worked really hard at this project and I'm really looking forward to the next stage of the competition. Who knows? perhaps the boys could even get to the international final in Kentucky. My fingers are crossed. Keep up the good work lads! Oliver Evelyn-Rahr ADT HOD

Y8 Robotics competition preparations (7 images)

Y8 have been busy preparing their robots for tomorrow's 'Vex High rise' competition at Highgate. Two teams will compete with another two St.Anthony's teams competing on the 30th for a place in the national finals. Highgate have once again been wonderfully generous with their expertise, hosting 13 students for a master class session on Tuesday. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress.
