HAMPSTEAD HEATH ART COMPETITION WINNERS (7 images)

Well done to Julien, Leo, Lucas and Max for getting their work exhibited at the 2017 Affordable Art Fair school art competition. This year's theme was 'Wildlife on the Heath' and incredibly St.Anthony's students scored first, second and third place with their photos and painting work. Well done gentlemen! Oliver

Fourth Plinth schools competition 2017 (37 images)

Year 7 have been hard at work creating thought-provoking sculpture ideas for the vacant fourth Plinth in Trafalgar square. It has been a pleasure to work with them on their highly imaginative ideas. Oliver

Year 8 Conflict exhibition (21 images)

Since September Year 8 have shown great maturity in their cross-curricular World War One centenary project. In conjunction with Drama and Music they began the term studying photography and the proportions of the human figure in the realm of conflict art. Students discussed formal and thematic elements of paintings by artists such as Goya and Howson before going on to create their own transcriptions of such works. The exhibition of this work in January was a pleasure to curate and I'd like to say a big thank-you to all the staff and parents who attended the show. Oliver

Saatchi Schools Competition 2017 (19 images)

This years exciting entries have spanned subject matter as diverse as Pokemon and Black holes. Joining the the year 6 entries are several from years 4 & 5 as well. It has, as ever, been a pleasure to work with the student's on their intriguing ideas. Y8 WW1 Photography 2016 (16 images)

Y8 worked hard in the Autumn term studying Art related to war and developing their own responses to this work. Students began by looking at techniques used by war photographers and using these to document each other in their Drama workshops. SHHS Robotics collaboration (5 images)

South Hampstead High School year 10 students have been visiting our Robotics students on Mondays to share their expertise. The boys are working enthusiastically towards their regional final at Henrietta Barnett School in January. The internationally renowned Artist and St.Anthony's parent Grace O'Connor has very generously be giving drawing master classes to some of our most enthusiastic senior house students. Fourth Plinth Competiton Winner (5 images)

Congratulations to M AN for receiving a prize in this years Fourth Plinth Competition. He attended a prize giving at City Hall and received a goody bag from the director of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It was an extremely strong set of entries for Y6 and a number of boys could have received awards. Y5 Butterfly Sculptures (7 images)

Y5 looked at the hidden messages Lord Baden Powell sent back from the Crimean war disguised in Butterfly drawings. They designed their own secrets and using their pattern and colour knowledge, hid these within their butterfly sculptures. Well done Year 5! Oliver and Claire

Y6 Fourth Plinth sculptures 2016 (25 images)

This year the group have really excelled themselves in the enthusiasm stakes. It has been an absolute pleasure to guide them through this project. Students were asked to design sculptures that they believed spoke about London for the vacant fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Oliver Evelyn-Rahr

The Saatchi Gallery / Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world who are invited to submit art work from students up to the age of 18. Schools can enter as many art works as they wish, and there is no prescribed theme for works entered nor is there a restriction on media used (sculpture, painting, installation, photography and mixed media art works are all eligible and welcome). The shortlist of schools and entries will be featured in an exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in February 2014 where the winner will be announced. A first prize of 10,000 will be awarded to the winning school's art department, with a further 2,000 given to the winning pupil to be spent on art and computer equipment. Two further runner-up prizes of 5,000 each will be awarded to the second and third placed schools, with a further 1,000 to each of the winning pupils. The quality of St.Anthony's entries has been consistently inspiring this year I'm very lucky to have a team of such talented and enthusiastic Artists to work with. Year 8 WWII Drama and Photography workshop (9 images)

This term in Drama, Art and Music Y8 will be creating a linked piece of work on the theme of World War II Evacuees. The work will be performed to a live audience on Remembrance Day, November 11th 2015. Chimera Project (31 images)

Chimera Project Having studied the phenomena of Chimeras in both science and myth, Year 7 set about creating their own hybrid monsters. This process resulted in a very well attended exhibition of the finished sculptures. Congratulations year 7 on some terrific work! Oliver ADT HOD
